A Nigerian court has refused to grant bail to Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, despite his deteriorating health condition.
The Federal High Court in Abuja, led by Judge Emeka Nwite, dismissed the application on October 11. The judge instructed prison authorities to ensure Gambaryan receives necessary medical attention by transferring him to a hospital rather than releasing him.
Judge Nwite stood firm on his decision, emphasizing that Gambaryan’s health struggles did not warrant release.
According to the ruling, the court would only consider bail if the detainee’s continued presence posed a risk to others and if quarantine was not a viable solution.
Since his arrest in February, Gambaryan has been held at Kuje prison in Abuja. Despite his claims of innocence and multiple appeals highlighting his worsening health, the court has consistently denied his release. His family has expressed deep concerns, stating that his condition has severely declined.
Back in August, Gambaryan’s family revealed that he was struggling with a herniated disc or spinal injury, making it difficult for him to walk. Despite these serious health concerns, the court remained unmoved, insisting he stay in custody until the case concludes.
Binance CEO Richard Teng has expressed growing concern over the matter. Earlier, he revealed that his team is working tirelessly to bring Gambaryan back to the U.S. for proper medical treatment. Teng condemned the situation, labeling it as unfair and highlighting the urgent need for action.

Gambaryan’s wife, Yuki, expressed disappointment but was unsurprised by the ruling.
(It’s) completely unjust to deny someone in Tigran’s condition the opportunity to seek appropriate medical help.”
She highlighted the injustice of denying her husband the opportunity for proper medical treatment given his critical condition. Despite her efforts and pleas, the court has maintained its stance, prolonging Gambaryan’s stay in prison.
