Telegram’s global network is crumbling yet again.
The popular cryptocurrency-friendly messaging platform is facing yet another major service disruption, with users across the globe unable to access content. According to Downdetector, the outage started at around 10:30 AM UTC on October 3, with hundreds of users reporting issues, primarily with server connections, sending, and receiving messages.
The outage wasn’t localized to just one area. Users from countries like Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Kazakhstan, Russia, the Netherlands, and Germany are among those hit hardest. Outage.
Reports confirmed via X (formerly Twitter) that the disruption began at 10:22 AM and continues to affect numerous regions.
This isn’t the first time Telegram has been down recently. Just one day prior, on October 2, a smaller outage was recorded.
Going back a bit further, in June, the platform experienced a mass outage that lasted for an hour and 28 minutes.
April also saw a significant disruption, with the app being down for nearly two hours. Telegram’s reputation for reliability has taken a hit, and user frustration is growing as these issues persist.
On Reddit, users have been sharing their experiences with the recent outage. Many are reporting problems with the app not loading newer messages, despite having access to older ones. Users in Germany seem particularly affected, with complaints about server connectivity making the rounds.
In the background of all this, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov is under investigation in France, facing six charges related to illicit activity on the platform. On October 2, Durov hinted that Telegram had been disclosing the IP addresses of criminals to authorities since 2018. Neither Telegram nor Durov have commented on the latest outage, leaving users in the dark once again.
